A very attractive species in both leaf and flower. Leaves begin to provide interest early in the year as they emerge from winter dormancy. These form a near perfect rosette of mid green, each leaf being a typical primula shape but covered with fine translucent hairs. The whole rosette is some 10 cms wide or so, a larger plant consisting of numerous rosettes. The flower stem rises from the centre of each rosette and attains around 45 cms in height at the top of which are clustered the deepest purple bell-like flowers.
