This has to be one of the best introductions in recent years. Growth begins in early spring with the emergence of the leaves. These push up through the soil like a closed umbrella and expand once it is clear of the soil surface. Many leaves are produced per plant, each one being slightly different. The base colour is green but numerous brown-red markings are present which persist right through until autumn. Young leaves have a silky feel adding to the interest. Flowers are bright crimson red and are star-shaped hanging beneath the leaves.
Please be aware that thse can differ from the images shown although the flowers are always red and the foliage is always mottled to some degree.
