Product Details

A very rare and unusual member of the Berberis family in that it is completely herbaceous. The plant emerges in early spring, the leaves folded like umbrellas and protecting the flower buds. Leaf colour is very striking - deep green and reddish-brown mottling throughout. The leaf emerges first with fine white hairs and expands forming a rounded shape with strong serrations and indents. Each growth has two leaves, occasionally three, the flower is borne on a short stem between these and is goblet shaped initially - pale cream in colour. Please not that the brown mottling will fade after a month or so.
