This is a small shrubby type plant native to most parts of Europe with a common name of spiny restharrow. Being in the pea family - Fabaceae, it has pale pink and white pouch-like flowers. These are held on the upper parts of the stems which can get to around 50 cms tall on larger plants. Foliage is small and numerous like a broom or cytisus. The foliage does hide a small spine beneath each leaf, not to be grabbed!
