This rarely offered species of Erythronium has the usual broad mottled apple-green leaves which emerge in early spring at the same time as the flowers. Flowers are borne early, around march or april, on rigid stems to 20 cms high or so. These are a pale lilac-violet to rich violet in colour and last for several weeks. Best in a good humusy soil but not too deep. Often labelled as a dens canis subspecies.
