A very rarely offered species from China which has a similar stature to Epimedium grandiflorum. Relatively small but numerous distinctive leaves held on typical wiry stems are present most of the year and only drop fully if the weather is extremely cold. New growth starts in the spring with the flowers rising first to a height of around 20 cms or so, followed later by the fresh new growth.
Flowers are sizeable, possibly the largest of the genus with large pink sepals and white spurred petals.
