An attractive alpine perennial rising in early spring. First the foliage emerges which is deeply dissected and fern-like, colour is silvery-grey and has an unusual appearance. Each leaf is up to 8 cms long and half as wide being held on rigid petioles. Flowers are held on dainty stems, up to 4 or so per stem and is red to pale pink in colour. Each flower is like a small swollen pouch with two splaying petals. These last for around fourteen days or so and are borne in succession from mid spring onwards. Resembles Dicentra peregrina but a larger form.
