A rarely offered species which has the usual large deep green leaves of Bergenias but this species has wavy margins with fine white hairs for added interest. Leaves can be up to 30 cms or so long and wide, making carpets of growth which is usually evergreen although in colder areas it may lose its leaves through winter. (Its evergreen with us). Flowers are pale pink and borne in spring on stems to around 35 cms high. These are bell-like and open faced with no obvious scent, lasting for several weeks.
