A good evergreen species forming dense clumps of leathery pale green fronds. Older fronds from the previous year make a good backdrop for these new fronds as they, being more mature, are deeper green. The leaves are broadly lance shaped with a variable degree of division to the leaf tips. The tips of the fronds are divided and subdivided, making a very leafy clump. Although this species does prefer an alkaline soil, we find that as long as there is plenty of moisture, and it is not too acid then it will grow okay.
