A fabulous rarely offered species. The foliage emerges in early spring being folded upwards around the flower. This gradually falls down and poits sharply downwards revealing the strong leaf marbling which lasts for most of the lifetime of that leaf. Flowers are fully sessile (stalkless) and usually bronzey-red in colour, although forms do exist which have deep red at the base of the flower. Lasts for many weeks in full flower. Seed raised and therefore may be a little variable. Young rhizomes are offered which may take another year or so to flower.
Please note that this species has naturally very small rhizomes.
