Product Details
This is, in our opinion, one of the most impressive ferns available. Stature alone is extremely impressive at up to 1.5 m high and wide. The fronds emerge in early spring, colour is rosy pink-purple but turn green with age. The sterile fronds are the first to emerge, pinnae are borne on the lower part of some fronds with the upper part having pinnae which are specialised to carry spores alone. Many of these are produced per frond and the upper part looks like a brown Astilbe-like growth. Will tolerate full sun if there is ample moisture. It does prefer an acid soil but again if plenty of moisture is present then it would tolerate an alkaline position.
