This is, in our opinion, one of the most impressive ferns available and very similar to our native Osmunda regalis.
Stature alone is extremely impressive at up to 150 cms high and wide. The fronds emerge in early spring, colour is rich green. The sterile fronds are the first to emerge, pinnae are borne on the lower part of some fronds with the upper part having pinnae which are specialised to carry spores alone. Many of these are produced per frond and the upper part looks like a brown Astilbe-like growth.
