This is a new intergeneric hybrid between Mukdenia and Bergenia.
A choice herbaceous woodland perennial reaching up to 20 cms high or thereabouts when in flower. It is a hardy perennial producing generally thickened stumpy rhizomes from which rise both leaves and flowers. Foliage is deep green in summer and rounded rather like a Bergenia but the edges are serrated. Flowers are held on rigid stout stems which bear panicles of numerous red flowers. Good red autumn colour.
