A rarely offered species from a much wider distribution than stated above, the states above are where it can be seen in abundance. Leaves are variably marbled and borne on stems often reddish in colour. Each is up to 10 cms long and almost wide, the marbling being most prominent at leaf emergence and fading as the flower fades. We believe ours may be a hybrid as the petals are taller than the plant in the picture! Flowers are obviously sessile, rather short petalled and variably reddish-purple in colour, occasionally greenish. A species which is much more attractive than its description. This is the real species, many suppliers will offer sessile but supply cuneatum!
