Originally named Cimicifuga until recently. The foliage is half of the attraction on this cultivar being a relatively deep purple-brown. The whole plant - stems included - are a rich purple-brown which is strongest in high light conditions. The leaves are held on rigid stems which require no staking to a height of around 150 cms high. Flowers are borne on the stem tips and are in the form of a spike which may carry dozens of smallish but very strongly scented blush pink flowers. Numerous spikes are borne from the original stem giving the plant an extended flowering period. Please be aware that the foliage reaches only around 60 cms high, the flower stems pushing through the foliage to 150 cms. Foliage is essentially the same as A. s. Brunette as in the photo.
