A rarely offered perennial from China completely herbaceous, this alpine rises early in spring, the foliage is quite pinnate and each leaflet is around 1 cm wide, rich-green in colour. Flowers are purplish-lavender and are held in an upright position with fine yellow stamens being quite large for a relatively small plant. Numerous flowers are produced and the flowerhead is very impressive when in full flower on larger plants.
