A hard working deciduous perennial from Japan with sage-green deeply veined ovate leaves at around 2 cms long. The edges are shallowly serrated and each is held on a semi-prostrate wiry stem which will root on contact with the soil. Flowers are the typical nettle-like affair - purplish in colour with a pouch-like lower lip. These are produced in dense panicles which last for several weeks each. As the species but a little smaller in all it's parts.
