A hard working deciduous perennial from S Europe and Siberia with sage-green deeply veined ovate leaves at around 1 inch long. The edges are scaloped but only slightly so and each is held on a semi-prostrate wiry stem. Flowers are the typical nettle-like affair - purple on the upper hood and yellow-white on the lower. These are produced in dense panicles which last for several weeks each.
