There are three distinct forms of this Saxifraga, one which produces stunning flowers with a heavy red marking - but dies once it flowers. The second seems to produce less impressive flowers but multiplies readily. The third, which we offer here, produces reasonably impressive flowers but also produces sufficient side rosettes to continue once the main rosette has died. The leaves are deep green and in limy soils will have lime encrusted around the margin. Flowers are borne in dense spikes, each is white with a strong red central mark. Country of origin refers to S. cotyledon.
