A hardy herbaceous or deciduous Primula which produces scalloped dark green leaves with prominent veins and reddish-purple midrib. The flowers are borne on rigid stems which rise from the centre of each rosette. Flowers can be very numerous and are held all at the top of each stem, which itself can be reddish in colour, occasionally a second stem will rise from this cluster to flower later. Each flower is funnel shaped, pendulous and has a feint scent lasting about one week. Will tolerate full sun if the soil is very moist at all times. Candelabra.
