A lovely rarely offered species from Japan with foliage consisting of several grey-green leaflets and all held on a rigid stem which can reach around 60 cms in height. Flowers are white with conspicuous yellow stamens and last longer than usual for Paeonia. Attractive bluish seeds follow which are held in a bright crimson-red receptacle on opening. Lasts for many weeks if the birds don't take them!
