This has to be one of the best species of the genus in our opinion. The foliage rises early in the season and is held on rigid stems which can eventually reach up to 70 cms or so high. Some literature has this species to 2.4m high, while we don't dispute this, we don't believe it will attain these proportions in this country. Each leaflet is held on the rigid stem much like a Solomon's Seal and is mid green in colour. The flowers are the main attraction on this species. These are borne at the stem tips in clusters containing well over a hundred. Colour is mainly white but each flower is edged red giving a pinkish effect. Occasionally flowers may be crisp pure white.
