A choice species with deep green lanceolate foliage scattered up the stems which may reach up to 12 inches high on mature plants. Each stems bears up to 2 flowers which are trumpet shaped, up to a couple of inches wide and tend to nod slightly. Colour is generally yellow but in this sub-species, a strong purple cast is evident.
