Foliage is evergreen and Iris-like in shape - long and narrow, a bit grassy. These are held vertically, or nearly so, from the rhizome which slowly creeps along the ground at the soil surface. Flowers are around 7cms wide with the standards and falls (types of petals which they have) held near horizontally. Colour is a little variable with white, purple or red markings.
