A robust perennial with rich green spear shaped leaves held very much erect. Each leaf arises from a swolled horizontal rhizome in mid spring. The species reaches a height of around 75 cms but this is the dwarf form reaching around 25 cms high. Flowers are held on short stems, each bearing one or two flowers and lasting for several weeks each. Formerly listed here as I. setosa 'Dwarf Form'. Synonymous with Iris hookeri.
