An unusual herbaceous perennial growing from thickened taproot-like growths in early spring. Foliage on this species is rather fleshy and broadly fern-like in appearance. Each has a central stem and many smaller leaflets, several leaves per growth but no stem. The flowers are borne on their own stem which rises directly from the ground, usually central to the rest of the plant. Each stem rises to around 30 cms high and holds up to 3 flowers each. The flowers are very large for the rest of the plant at up to 7cms wide or more, colour is a pale pink.
