A herbaceous perennial grown mainly for the foliage effect, it does however have attractive flowers. Foliage emerges in early spring from swollen roots. They unfurl and at this point the foliage is at its best, colour is rich and water droplets sit on the surface and refract light making the whole plant look fresh. Colour is rich green but as the name suggests, variable width white striping is exhibited throughout the width of the leaf - one leaf never looks like the next. This is possibly the best little Hosta to be released for many years. Flowers are borne in mid summer on rigid stems, each stems carries numerous flowers of a tubular shape. Colour is lavender-purple and these are followed by green seed pods.
