A super form of fritillary which is robust enough to multiply quickly in the garden situation. Essentially the same as the species but with added vigour! Rigid greyish-green stems carry lanceolate grey-green leaves to a height of around 14 inches or so. The flowers are borne on the stem tips, usually one but occasionally two. Each is around one inch wide when fully open and more tall. Colour is rich brown/red and each last for a long time, giving interest even when immature as the colour starts as green and going through the colour phases until mature.
