An unusual alpine perennial which will retain some of its foliage through the winter months. The foliage is very much needle-like and around one inch long, deep green in colur and arranged densely around the stem. Flowers are up to 5 cms wide and a slatey blue in colour with a yellow centre making a good contrast.
