This hybrid is a chance seedling, found by Roger Hammond who has the national collection of Epimediums. Found growing by a path... Evergreen but the new growth rises in early spring shortly after which, the flowers emerge. Leaves are elongated with serrated or spined edges and brown markings when young. Flowers are borne in short racemes, are a orange/yellow in colour, hang pendulously from upright stems and have broad petals. This species flowers from late April to early June or July and then occasionally in September making it one of the longest flowering hybrids.
