This species is often used as a rootstock because it is so tolerant and imparts some vigour into the scion. Leaves are elongated and pale green, evergreen and have a conspicuous cremy-yellow margin. The shrub takes on a lax appearance as it tends to grow wider than tall. Flowers are pale pink and held in the usual terminal clusters with the typical strong scent.
