This is an unusual species among the genus which flowers in autumn rather than spring. First into growth (or last?) are the flower stems which rise in early autumn. Up to 4 bell-like flowers of a crisp white colour are held at the top of the slender stems, rising to around 15 cms high. Leaves are cylindrical and borne at or just after the emergence of the flowers.

This particular subspecies very often will produce more than one flower per scape.
