A more robust species which can do well on normal soils. The foliage emerges in early spring being folded upwards around the flower. This gradually falls down to lay horizontal revealing the strong leaf marbling which lasts for most of the lifetime of that leaf. Flowers are fully sessile (stalkless) and usually rich green in colour, although forms do exist which have deep red at the base of the flower. Lasts for many weeks in full flower.
