This really is a lovely plant for the shadier parts of the rock garden or woodland garden. Foliage is evergreen and very much prostrate. Leaves are compound made up of numerous leaflets with a central midrib, this is usually reddish in colour with fine thorns on the undersides. They are held on short stems which terminate in the flowers. The flowers are held individually but the stem terminus may have several pedicels each, colour is clean white - like a white rose. Red strawberry-like fruits follow in autumn.
