tall stems with narrow leaves and pinkish flowers
Polygonatum verticillatum var rubrum
Product Details
Woodland plants from China with a very impressive stature and form. Tall rigid stems rise from the ground in early spring, this itself being an attraction. The shoots on this subspecies are pink upon emerging but later turn rich green and hold whorls of narrow lanceolate leaves. The flowers are borne in the leaf axils on the upper leaf whorls late in the season. Colour is rich pink-purple but a darker purplish marking is present throughout the flower. They are held in the leaf axils but hang pendulously in a ring around the stem. The upper parts of the growths act as tendrils, clasping anything they can.
