An herbaceous perennial grown mainly for the foliage effect, it does however have attractive flowers. Foliage emerges in early spring from swollen roots. Colour is deep green with a nice rich glossy effect. Some degree of twisting occurs, mainly if the plant is grown in sun. Flowers are borne in late summer on rigid stems, each stems carries numerous flowers of a tubular shape. Colour is light purple and these are followed by green seed pods. A very nice plant with extremely narrow foliage.
Apparently now a subsection of Hosta Tardiflora.
