Frequently Asked Questions

How do I save my 'Basket' or 'Cart'?

This is available to registered customers only. Place the plants into your Cart as normal. When you have them all in click on 'View Basket' at the top of the page. Confirm your address by clicking on the 'continue' button. That's it, your basket is saved until you login the next time you're on our website. Retrieve it by clicking on 'Saved Shopping Carts'.

How do I place an order through the web site?

Simply click the link at the bottom of each plant which says "add to basket". After adding each plant click on the "view" link at the top right of each page. Review your full order and then click on the "checkout" link and follow the instructions on screen.

How do I make an enquiry about a plant or plants?

Simply click on the "Contact Us" link to the left and use the enquiry form there. You may ask your question there. Alternatively there is an email link at the foot of every page.

How do I ask you to bring plants to a flower show for me?

Make your order in the usual way but send it to us as an enquiry. This link can be found in the "Contact Us" link to the left.

Is your website fully secure?

We do not see or process your credit card details ourselves, your order is processed by us but your payment is automatically handled by either one of two specialist companies called PayPal or SagePay. Your credit card details are fully secure. Telephone orders require card details which will be used but not stored at any time.
The website is fully PCI DSS compliant and has an 'A' rating for security. Even anti hacking software is built into the site.

How do I add plants to an order after I have submitted the order?

Simply send an email including your telephone number and we will contact you. We will obviously require more payment and the easiest way to do this is via PayPal, we'll advise you at the time.

Do you de-pot your plants before posting?

Most of our plants will be dispatched in their pots with a very few exceptions. These currently are Arisaema, Lilium, Roscoea and Nomocharis, plus one or two others. These are best sent as bare tubers or rhizomes which establish much better when planted.
European orders are de-potted by default to reduce postage. You can check postage cost by clicking on 'view basket' and then 'calculate postage'.

What is your minimum order value?

You may order as little as one plant if you wish but please bear in mind that the cost of postage by Royal Mail is getting higher. Orders of two or more plants will likely be dispatched using Parcelforce.
European customers - we'd advise ordering around £30 minimum to compensate for postage charges but you don't have to!
I'm an overseas customer how will I receive my plants?
We will, by default de-pot your plants to reduce weight. This greatly reduces postage costs. We can leave pots and compost on but this can be expensive. Please email us first if you really prefer this method as extra funds may be required.
As a European customer, what will I pay in shipping charges?
We offer two shipping methods for European customers:-
Economy service - The website will charge an absolute maximum of £33.50 on this service but we will make a refund to your card for any excess postage which we don't require to get the plants to you. The website is quite accurate at calculating postage and normally a refund is unnecessary. The website automatically calculates postage for you. This service is tracked but only to let you know it's in transit and when it's delivered. we'd recommend the courier service below.

Courier Tracked Service - This is a fully detailed tracked service and we'd recommend this for all orders if possible. We use Parcelforce for this and they are very good at getting parcels from us to you in around 3 to 5 days depending on your country. The parcel is collected by Parcelforce and delivered by Parcelforce or GLS, their European delivery partner - no third party courier is used. A little longer is required for further away countries such as southern Italy. The website automatically calculates the postage for you.
Which postal service will you use to get plants to a European destination?
We use either Royal Mail Tracked and Signed or Parcelforce depending on the destination and the service you select at checkout time. These typically takes around 5 days or more for the Royal Mail services or around 3 days for the Parcelforce service. The Parcelforce service is comparable in price and provides much more information when tracked through the email link provided at dispatch time, this is the service we reccomend.
I haven't received my plants within 14 days.
We do try to dispatch as soon as we can and most of the time customers will receive their plants within 7 days. However, during busy periods in the spring and autumn, there will be a delay. Rest assured, we will have your order here and will dispatch as soon as we can.
