A vigorous herbaceous bulbous perennial which rises in early spring, the leaves first, followed quickly by the flowers. The leaves are large and strap shaped, pale glossy green and slightly wavy margined. Flower are a bright yellow held on rigid stems with up to four per stem, yellow anthers add to the interest. Each stem is up to 35 cms high. Flower petals are reflexed and a little green veining is evident. Collected from a garden in Northumberland which showed extra vigour.
