A newly discovered variation of the species from Honshu.
Foliage is the first to arrive in spring on this double flowered form and this rises early (around mid February) but takes a long time to unfurl. Flower buds at this time are tight and held just below the foliage. Each leaf is strongly serrated, being deep green in colour. Flowers are the main attraction with each being double and open wide like a daisy. This plant spreads by stolons rather like wood anemones and will fill a space fairly quickly.
