Easy to grow hardy herbaceous perennial from Japan (the species)with broadly lanceolate leaves which have prominent veining. These rise from the soil in very early spring and look interesting from the very start. Each plant grows into a clump of pleated leaves from which grow the flowering stems to 120 cms or more in height. Flowers are a pale creamy-white with an occasional hint of green and held on erect sturdy stems for many weeks.
