A rarely offered perennial from western USA which is not too dissimilar in leaf to an Aquilegia. Completely herbaceous, this american perennial rises early in spring, the foliage is quite pinnate and each leaflet is around 1 cm wide, rich-green in colour. Flowers are sulphur yellow and hang pendulosly from the upper parts of the stems. Maybe a little slower growing than V. hexandra but no too slow.
