This is one of the most impressive of the pedicel trilliums with a large stature reaching occasionally 60 cms high in larger colonies. The leaves are rather large at up to 20 cms wide and long, each with visible veining. The flowers on this impressive species are a deep red colour and tend to hang down below the foliage. This can hide the flower a little but regular division will allow them to be seen. The whole flower can easily reach up to 10 cms wide, as it does here in our garden every year.
