A medium sized species with leaves to around 15 cms wide or so in good conditions. These are relatively rounded with fine indentations maybe to the edges. Rich green in colour with a rough texture, these plants add a little architecture to the border or larger rock garden.
Flowers are bright red coloured and tiny but produced in masses on short stems to 30 cms high or thereabouts. It's a very architectural plant and does appreciate some space around it.
