A fabulous herbaceous perennial from Honshu - Japan where it grows in thick clumps under a loose tree canopy. The foliage is soft green and made up of a number of smaller leaflets, borne just after flowering.
Flowers are a pale mauve-lavendery pink and held in bunches on stems up to 50 cms or so tall, followed by white berries.
Best in a humusy soil and in a position where the wind won't cause too much damage.
