A rarely offered perennial for the rock garden. Leaves rise just after the flowers in spring on this species. They are very deeply indented and at first appearance are completely wooly but later expand to reveal their true form - finely serrated with silvery hairs. Flowers are bell like but held on erect stems with a furry covering. Flower colour is generally yellow but with a blue base to each petal very common as in the picture.
