A European species with rich green finely dissected fronds. Generally evergreen except in the harshest winters, growth of the new fronds begins in late spring with the new fronds taking several weeks to unfurl. Each is up to 4 pinnatifid (divided four times) but occasional fronds with a single division are present. Length of each frond is around 45 cms and the whole plant is around 45 cms high, spread is indefinite. A lovely species for a shady spot in moist soil where it will make good ground cover. Rarely offered.
