A lovely species from Western China, Asia and Europe with foliage consisting of several rich-green pointed leaflets and all held on a rigid stem which can reach around 40 cms in height. Flowers are red with conspicuous yellow stamens and last for several weeks. Attractive dark seeds follow which are held in a bright crimson-red receptacle on opening.
