This is one of the most striking of the genus. Deep green scalloped rounded leaves are evergreen with reddish petioles on decumbent stems which make a dense mat of growth. From these mat emerge the flower spikes carrying the flowers. The flowers are tubular and deep red, in numbers to around 15 on each stem, semi pendant and last for around one week each. Increases well if the soil is fertile although we find that moisture is the key.
