A small neat and tidy Iris from France and Italy with lance shaped foliage. Leaf colour is bluish-green and these rise from ground-level rhizomes in early spring to around 15 cms high. Flowers are held on stout stems in early June, each is around 7 cms wide. Colour is a deep purple. A dwarf species raised here from seed and so a little variability may be present.
