This is a relatively hardy member of the Gesneriad family (think Saintpaulia and Streptocarpus)with big soft fleshy leaves which can get to around 25cm long in the right conditions. Completely herbaceous in habit, it can make big clumps in time but isn't in any way invasive.
Flowers are like a Gloxinia or Sinningia being broadly tubular and generally with some degree of spotting to the throat. Having now flowered this species, we can confirm that it is Hemiboa subcapitata
